Halloween Fun!

It was another busy week in Room 17! Here are some of the highlights from our learning and our Halloween festivities.

On Monday, our field students from Kent State visited with us again. They brought more fun and challenging math games for us to work on!

Our class also had the opportunity to work on a pumpkin to be displayed at Beef O'Brady's right here in Stow. After a short discussion, we decided to turn our pumpkin into an adorable minion from "Despicable Me". Our creation ended up being awesome! Check out some of the other creative pumpkins that other classrooms at Fishcreek designed too!

This week, we used adjectives to write a descriptive writing piece about ourselves. Students had to give "clues" about themselves using adjectives without telling us their name. After completing a first draft, we revised and edited before completing a final copy. Each student made a ghost to display on the door. Underneath the "sheet" is a picture of the student and his/her final copy of their "Who Am I?" writing piece.

Since Mrs. Obraza welcomed her baby boy a little early, Mrs. Bengston, our principal for now, came to talk to our class about remaining on the same P.A.G.E while Mrs. Obraza is out. The students are warming up to her already!

 We read non-fiction books about spiders this week. Many of us were in agreement that spiders are very creepy (Mrs. Loeffler included!!), but we learned many interesting facts about them through our reading. Since we have been working on verbs and adjectives, we used some vocabulary from our reading and sorted them into the verb or adjective category. The class really enjoyed this Spider Sort!

  I will leave you with some of the photos I managed to snap at our Halloween party on Friday. I didn't get many because it was very busy, but there are some good ones in the bunch. Thanks to the room parents for putting a great party together!
